RSCA Spring Academy 2026 (Grade 10-12)

At Rob Short Coaching Academy (RSCA), athletes train in a high-performance environment built around one core expectation: give your absolute best in every session. Maintaining this standard helps athletes elevate their skills and confidence on the field while developing discipline, professionalism, and excellence that carry into everyday life.

RSCA fosters a positive, collaborative environment where athletes benefit from personalized attention and guidance from a diverse team of expert coaches.

Academy Overview

• 24 intensive training sessions designed to elevate performance in the RSCA High-Performance Academy.

• Targeted athletes: Grades 10–12, with programs tailored to prepare players for the next level.

• Coaching staff: Each session features 5–6 expert coaches and trainers, including Olympians, former international players, ex-college/university athletes, and ex-professionals.

• Specialized goalkeeper training: World-class goalkeeping coach included in every session.

• Athlete monitoring: Qualified physiotherapist or athletic trainer present at every session to ensure safety and optimize performance.

• Targeted physical program: Sessions begin with 30 minutes of injury prevention, agility, flexibility, speed, and strength training.

• Recruitment support: Guidance for U Sports (Canada) and NCAA (USA) recruiting from RSCA’s Head of Recruiting, Rob Short.

• Interactive feedback: Continuous in-session feedback for skill and tactical refinement.

• World-class facilities: Sessions take place on water-based field hockey turf at Wright Field, UBC.

Academy Selection Criteria

We seek athletes who:

• Demonstrate strong technical and tactical awareness.

• Show passion and commitment to the sport.

• Are receptive to feedback and eager to develop as elite players.

• Possess the physical fitness to perform at a high level.

• Exhibit professional behavior and contribute positively to the group atmosphere.

Registration Fees

Refund Policy:

• Fees are non-refundable once the academy begins, including in cases of injury or schedule conflicts.

• Withdrawals after registration may be eligible for a refund minus a $500 non-refundable deposit.

• Athletes are encouraged to attend both assessment sessions.

• The final academy squad will be announced after assessments. Athletes not selected will have fees refunded minus a $200 + GST assessment fee.

Required for new athletes upon selection: $370 + GST.

Do not purchase prior to selection confirmation. The package is reusable for the duration of your time in the academy.
