Spring Academy 2024 (Grade 10 – 12)

About:

At Rob Short Coaching, athletes will train in a high-performance setting to facilitate continual improvement with one simple expectation: that every athlete trains at their absolute best. Training at a consistently high level, with maximum effort, will not only build confidence and skill on the field, but it will instill confidence, and develop professionalism and excellence, for everyday life.

RSCA is designed to facilitate a positive inter-athlete experience while providing a variety of coaches to ensure adequate attention is paid to individual athlete development.​

Academy Details:

• 24 training sessions in the RSCA intensive high performance academy program
• Full RSC coaching staff  (depending on numbers registered we will continue to operate with a minimum of 5 coaches/trainers at each session but up to 6)
• All coaches are either Olympians, ex-Internationals, ex-college/university or ex-professional players)
• Athletes will be monitored at each session by a qualified physiotherapist or trainer.
• Physical program will be conducted for the first 30 minutes of most of our sessions w/ qualified trainer (injury prevention, movement, agility, flexibility, speed and strength training).
• All athletes will be supported in their U Sports (Canada) and NCAA (USA) recruiting goals by RSCA’s ‘Head of Recruiting’ Rob Short.
• Continuous in-training interactive feedback
• All sessions are run on world-class water-based field hockey turf (Wright Field, UBC)

Academy Selection:
Please refer to the Academy Selection details listed below. All athletes are expected to attend the first two selection sessions.

Academy Athlete Selection Criteria:

1.       High level of technical and tactical awareness.
2.       Passion for and commitment to the sport.
3.       Open to feedback with a desire to learn and develop as an elite field hockey player.
4.       Physical fitness and ability.​

At Rob Short Coaching we expect that players bring character of their own, while also contributing to team atmosphere, practicing excellence and demonstrating professional behaviour on and off the field.

Other Important Details:

RSCA does not pro-rate fees/sessions and registration fees are non-refundable after the academy commences (this includes injury, schedule conflicts or for any other reason).

Please note if you choose to withdraw after registration you will receive a full refund minus a $500 non-refundable deposit. This is non-negotiable so please ensure you are fully committed prior to registering.

All athletes are encouraged to attend both assessment sessions. After assessment is completed we will announce the full training squad for the program. Those athletes not selected will have their fees refunded minus a $190 +gst assessment fee.

​There is an additional $350 +gst Training Clothing Package which ONLY NEW athletes will need to purchase.  This will be due upon selection after the assessment sessions.  Please do not purchase package prior to receiving confirmation of athlete selection. At this time you will receive an email asking you to purchase the clothing package. Please note this clothing package will be used for as long as you are with the academy so you will not need to purchase again.

How to Register

Step 1: Upon adding the Academy to the Cart (below) you will be redirected to fill out registration form (required)

Academy Registration Fees:
Spring Program Online Pricing – $2275 + gst (pay with credit card at checkout)
Spring Program E-transfer Pricing – $2195 + gst ($2304.75 with e-transfer to rob<at>robshortcoaching.com)

Step 2: After registration form is submitted, you will be redirected to fill out the Waiver & Indemnity Agreement (required)

Step 3: You can now pay for the academy at Checkout or continue shopping.  The actual amount for this term is $2195 so you have two options. Pay online here with credit card with an additional $80 +gst to cover the credit card fees or you can e-transfer $2195+gst ($2304.75) to rob <at> robshortcoaching.com.
