Fall Academy 2026 (Grade 10-12)

At Rob Short Coaching Academy (RSCA), athletes train in a high-performance environment built around one core expectation: give your absolute best in every session. Upholding this standard helps athletes elevate their skills and confidence on the field while developing discipline, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence that carries into everyday life.

RSCA fosters a positive, collaborative environment where athletes receive personalized attention and guidance from a diverse team of expert coaches.

Academy Overview

• 24 intensive training sessions designed to elevate performance in the RSCA High-Performance Academy.

• Targeted athletes: For athletes entering Grades 10, 11 and 12 in the Fall, with programs tailored to prepare players for the next level.

• Coaching staff: Each session features 5–6 expert coaches and trainers, including Olympians, former international players, ex-college/university athletes, and ex-professionals.

• Specialized goalkeeper training: World-class goalkeeping coach included in every session.

• Athlete monitoring: Qualified physiotherapist or athletic trainer present at every session to ensure safety and optimize performance.

• Targeted physical program: Sessions begin with 30 minutes of injury prevention, agility, flexibility, speed, and strength training.

• Recruitment support: Guidance for U Sports (Canada) and NCAA (USA) recruiting from RSCA’s Head of Recruiting, Rob Short.

• Interactive feedback: Continuous in-session feedback for skill and tactical refinement.

• World-class facilities: Sessions take place on water-based field hockey turf at Wright Field, UBC.

Academy Fit & Expectations

While there is no formal selection process, RSCA reserves the right to assess athletes during the first two sessions. If it is determined that the program is not the right fit, we may recommend additional development before reapplying.

In such cases, athletes will receive a refund minus a $250 + GST assessment fee.

Our goal is to build confidence and ensure every athlete is placed in an environment where they can succeed.

We look for athletes who:

• Demonstrate strong technical and tactical awareness
• Show passion and commitment to the sport
• Are receptive to feedback and eager to improve
• Possess the fitness required for high-performance training
• Exhibit professionalism and contribute positively to the group

Registration Fees

Refund Policy:

• Fees are non-refundable once the academy begins, including in cases of injury or schedule conflicts.

• Withdrawals after registration may be eligible for a refund minus a $500 non-refundable deposit. Before registering please ensure this is the program for you.

• Athletes are encouraged to attend both assessment sessions.

• The final academy squad will be announced after assessments. As mentioned above athletes not selected will have fees refunded minus a $250 + GST assessment fee.

Training Clothing Package

Required for new athletes upon selection: $385 + GST.

***Do not purchase prior to selection confirmation. The package is reusable for the duration of your time in the academy.
